New Restaurant Serving Organs and Bones

“The New York Times” recently published an article in their Dining Section about a new restaurant with some strange foods on the menu…..

Chefs Joe and Kim Carroll will soon be opening a restaurant in Brooklyn, called St. Anselm. They had originally planned it to be a “glorified hot dog stand,” but changed their minds at the last minute. Now, the menu includes things such as calves’ brains and heart jerky.

“When it opens on April 19, the chef, Al Bacchiochi, will have had plenty of practice cooking neck bones Venetian style, for the Wednesday night special; frying marrow croquettes and calves’ brains and smoking sweetbreads. He is also making calves’ heart jerky scrapple and goetta, a kind of Cincinnati scrapple.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure how I feel about eating such strange food items. However, this is New York City, home to people from just about everywhere you can imagine, and this could work in their favor. Do you think the restaurant will be successful? Will people be intrigued by the unique foods available or will the many picky eaters in the world turn their noses up at the menu? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
